Budget airline FlyOriole wants to operate Jamaica - Curaçao route

KINGSTON - Jamaica will, if everything goes according to plans, get an airline next year. A group of Jamaican and European investors wants to start in March 2021 with budget airline FlyOriole. This airline must fly to various Caribbean destinations, including Curacao.

FlyOriole has hired aviation veteran Keith Kerr as top man. He was previously at the helm of Air Jamaica, British Airways subsidiary CityFlyer and Bournemouth Airport.

According to the new airline, about 80 percent of the funds is now in to bridge the first five years. It is not yet known with which aircraft type FlyOriole wants to fly. There is already some information about the planned routes.

For example, a shuttle service must be set up between Kingston and Montego Bay, with flights operating between the two cities every hour. It is also intended to set up scheduled services to Barbados, Curaçao, El Salvador, Guatemala, Guyana, Panama and Trinidad & Tobago.
