Foreign Ministry Warns Dutch Citizens and Aruba Residents: Do Not Travel to Venezuela or Haiti

ORANJESTAD, WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs has issued an urgent travel warning advising Dutch citizens and legal residents of Aruba not to travel under any circumstances to Venezuela or Haiti. The situation in both countries has deteriorated further, prompting the ministry to raise the travel advisory to code orange and red.

The Aruban government and the Directorate of Foreign Relations (DBB) have fully endorsed this warning, emphasizing that travel to either destination poses serious safety and legal risks.

According to the advisory, travelers — including those visiting family or relatives — risk detention upon arrival in Venezuela. Moreover, the Dutch Embassy is not operational in either country, making it extremely difficult for authorities to provide assistance in case of emergency or arrest.

Under code red, travel is strongly discouraged, except in cases of absolute necessity. The Kingdom of the Netherlands continues to closely monitor developments in the region amid ongoing instability and security concerns.

The Ministry urges citizens:

“Stay safe and always consult official government sources before planning any trip.”
