WILLEMSTAD – Authorities in Curaçao, including the Coast Guard, Police, and other regulatory bodies, are implementing strict controls at sea and along coastal areas to ensure a safe and orderly Fuikdag 2025. These measures, aimed at maintaining public order and enforcing government regulations, are part of a coordinated effort to address safety concerns and logistical challenges during the event.
Vessels participating in Fuikdag must meet strict safety requirements. All boats are required to carry enough life vests for the passengers on board, as well as essential safety equipment, including signaling devices and whistles. Proper documentation for all vessels must also be available for inspection by the Harbor and Safety Inspection team and the Coast Guard.
In addition to these measures, alcohol sales are strictly prohibited, and music is not allowed to be played on rafts or platforms during the event. Music must stop entirely after 5:00 PM. The Fire Department will conduct inspections to ensure no open flames are used for barbecues or other activities that may pose fire risks aboard vessels.
Authorities have also banned the use of water taxis and hitchhiking to and from Fuikbaai. This rule addresses past incidents where individuals were left stranded at Fuikbaai and resorted to crossing private property at Santa Barbara to return to Caracasbaai, causing unnecessary disorder. To prevent similar issues, these measures will be strictly enforced.
Boats arriving from foreign countries are required to complete immigration and customs procedures before participating in the event. This ensures that all vessels comply with local entry regulations and maintain proper documentation.
The enforcement of these rules will be carried out by various agencies, including the Coast Guard, Curaçao Police Corps, Harbor and Safety Inspection, Fire Department, Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN), Santa Barbara Security, Red Cross, Curaçao Ambulance Foundation (FKA), and Citro. These organizations will collaborate to maintain public safety and provide assistance where necessary.
Violators of the established regulations will face penalties, as authorities emphasize the importance of adherence to these rules to create a safe and enjoyable environment for all attendees. Participants are urged to respect the guidelines, cooperate with officials, and prioritize safety during Fuikdag 2025.
This coordinated effort underscores the commitment of Curaçao's authorities to ensure that Fuikdag remains a secure and well-organized event for everyone involved.
