WILLEMSTAD - True to tradition, the year ends with the Pagara Party XXL in Pietermaai District on 31 December (this year on Monday). The district has once again joined forces to make it a big party, with as usual the largest and longest Pagara (fireworks) from the island from Scuba Lodge to Café de Tijd and festivities that last until the late hours.

The festivities in the neighborhood start at 12.00 noon. Around 15.00 hours the 15 million hits of about 1.5 kilometers long pagara will be ignited at Scuba Lodge. The Pagara continues its way through the Pietermaaiweg to Café de Tijd. The catering establishments along the route provide entertainment, live music, food and drinks on their own initiative. Some of which continue their festivities until the late hours. At Café de Tijd there is, like every year, a big party with Wakkere Joris, DJ David Gitaar and DJ Sento! Scuba Lodge celebrates the end of the year from 13.00 with DJ Double D. At Café Old Dutch you can go all day until the late hours for a lot of fun, from 15.00 there is live music from Roadhouse! Mundo Bizarro is of course also present and has performances by Happy Peanuts, Plane and Charming Basterds, and at 7 PM the celebration of the Dutch New Year.

In connection with the preparations for the Pagara Party XXL, the Pietermaaiweg will be closed from 12:00 PM on 31 December. The organization expects a large number of visitors in Pietermaai District, therefore additional security measures will be taken and extra facilities will be placed, such as public toilets.
