Marriott Curaçao Celebrates Five Years with 185,000 Visitors in 2024

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort welcomed more than 185,000 guests in 2024, marking a milestone in the five-year anniversary of its reopening. The resort, which underwent a $40 million renovation, reopened in late 2019 and has since become a cornerstone of Curaçao’s tourism sector, despite facing significant challenges during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The fully renovated resort opened its doors just months before the pandemic brought global travel to a halt. In response, the Marriott team implemented strategic measures, including targeted room rentals and cost-cutting initiatives, to weather the crisis. These efforts not only ensured the resort's survival but also established it as a key destination for visitors to the island.

A Testament to Resilience

Marketing Manager Rachel Cronmiller highlighted the difficulty of navigating the pandemic's challenges but credited the resort's success to its dedicated staff, strategic planning, and glowing guest reviews. “Surviving the pandemic wasn’t easy, but the resilience of our team and the loyalty of our guests have brought us to where we are today,” she said.

To celebrate its fifth anniversary, the resort hosted a reception featuring live performances by local artists, music, cake, and champagne. In addition, special discounted rates were offered to local residents, emphasizing Marriott’s commitment to the community.

Boosting the Local Economy

With over 185,000 guests in 2024, the Curaçao Marriott Beach Resort has significantly contributed to the island’s economy. Visitors have generated revenue for local businesses, including restaurants, transportation services, and tourist attractions.

Reflecting on its journey, the resort looks back on five transformative years of growth and success, catering to both international and local guests. The Marriott’s strong recovery curve and enduring appeal underscore its vital role in Curaçao’s vibrant tourism sector.
