June 5, the first cruise ship should arrive

WILLEMSTAD - The first cruise ship is coming to Curaçao on June 5. At least that's the planning. Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) is in talks with the cruise lines about the conditions.

They would like to start again, but at all times prevent people from becoming infected when they leave the ship. Passengers and crew are only allowed on board if they have been vaccinated.

Persons over 18 years of age who wish to book a cruise must prove that they have been vaccinated. A negative result of a PCR test is mandatory for young people under the age of 18.

A requirement that the companies also impose on their stakeholders, the people with whom tourists come into contact.

For that reason, the creation of a bubble is considered. Tour and beach visit without contact with the locals.

At the end of March it was announced that Sint Maarten will again welcome cruise passengers at the beginning of June. The economy of Sint Maarten is very dependent on cruise tourism.
