"Incredibly proud to announce our own flights to Curaçao"

WILLEMSTAD - "We are incredibly proud to officially announce our own flights to Curaçao," said Atilay Uslu, founder and owner of Corendon, regarding the news that Corendon will start operating its own flights to Curaçao from November using an Airbus A350-900, marking the end of the strategic partnership with KLM on the island.

"We have embraced the island wholeheartedly, we have established ourselves in Curaçao, and we are committed to further expanding the mutual relationship with a long-term focus," Uslu added. "We have already achieved this through our holiday offerings and our own hotels, and starting from November, we will also have our own flights. Corendon has become known for always offering great vacations at affordable prices, and now we can deliver even better. I am looking forward to our first flight on November 3rd."

Approximately 45,000 Dutch travelers book their vacations to Curaçao with Corendon every year. Half of them stay at Corendon's own resorts, while the other half choose partner hotels. Over the past five years, Corendon has invested nearly €150 million in its own hotels on the island, including the five-star Corendon Mangrove Beach Resort (399 rooms) and the four-star Livingstone Jan Thiel Resort (204 rooms and villas). In December of this year, The Rif at Mangrove Beach (385 rooms), another five-star all-inclusive resort, will open its doors, similar to the Mangrove Beach Resort.

With a total of almost 1,000 own hotel rooms, it is essential for Corendon to ensure an adequate flight capacity. Additionally, it is of great importance to the residents of Curaçao to have sufficient flights on the Curaçao-Amsterdam route, as it contributes to competitive prices. With Corendon's new flights, the capacity on this route will increase by almost 30%. Corendon will soon become one of the largest employers in Curaçao. In addition to the 800 jobs in hotels and at the Contact Center, dozens of Cabin Attendants will also be recruited in Curaçao. The intention is to use not only Dutch and English but also Papiamento as the operating language on board.

Yesterday evening, the tour operator issued a press release about the news that TravMagazine reported a week and a half ago. Starting from November 2023, Corendon will operate its own flights five times a week (six times a week from mid-June to mid-September) to Curaçao using an Airbus A350-900, marking the end of the long-standing partnership with KLM on this route. Corendon has entered into a wet-lease agreement with the Spanish airline World2Fly.
