Historical mural painting in Santa Rosa by KBTR

WILLEMSTAD - During his stay in Curaçao, the artist KBTR not only surprisingly showed his famous iconic gnomes in the streets. He also painted a mural of the founders of the famous music group Típiko Santa Rosa. Via the rapper Fresku, KBTR came in contact with Selwyn de Wind, who suggested this idea. The filmmaker is working on a documentary about singer-songwriter Rudy Plaate, which will premiere this year at the Curaçao International Film Festival Rotterdam (CIFFR). Típiko Santa Rosa cannot be missed in a documentary about music in Curaçao.

Típiko Santa Rosa was founded by Chi Domatilia (in the center of the image). The music group has ensured the conservation and development of traditional music from Curaçao and beyond. Because of that colorful group, countless other 'típiko' bands have emerged in Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao. The musical ensemble has been going for different generations in varying compositions. Now under the direction of Freddy Domatilia, the son of Chi Domatilia. Their last performance was at the "Festival di Pueblo" in Otrobanda last year.

The historical wall painting of the "street artist" KBTR is not only a cheerful note, but also a fitting tribute to a band that has hit the right note on the island. In short, our island is a new piece of cultural heritage richer and can be viewed at Granbeeuw Country House.

More information about the artist can be found on Instagram DEKBTR and on the website colourcastle.nl.
