WILLEMSTAD - The Dutch Caribbean Cooperation of Airports (DCCA) has announced plans to lower Passenger Facility Charges (PFC) for flights between the ABC islands, making regional travel more affordable.
Starting January 2025, travelers will see a $15 reduction in PFC per passenger, a move expected to boost tourism, enhance regional connectivity, and promote economic growth. According to DCCA, this initiative is part of a broader strategy to strengthen ties between the islands and foster development in the Dutch Caribbean.
The reduction will first apply to flights between Curaçao and Bonaire in January, with Aruba set to follow in February. The initiative will have the most significant impact on the heavily traveled Aruba-Curaçao route.
The decision follows two years of research and a successful pilot program in Sint Maarten, which aimed to encourage affordable regional travel.
DCCA Chairman Jonny Andersen highlighted the long-term benefits of the initiative. “By lowering the Passenger Facility Charge, we aim to make inter-island travel more affordable and accessible for everyone. This effort not only strengthens the bonds between our islands but also supports regional tourism and economic growth,” Andersen stated.
The initiative marks a significant step toward improving regional mobility while encouraging more frequent and cost-effective travel for residents and visitors alike.
