WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao marked a milestone in its cruise tourism sector today as the Oceania Vista made its inaugural visit to the island. The arrival of the luxury vessel underscores Curaçao’s growing prominence as a premier cruise destination in the Caribbean.
Ceremonial Welcome
A traditional plaque exchange ceremony was held aboard the Vista, attended by Minister Charles Cooper, representatives from the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA), Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB), Maduro Shipping, Customs and Immigration officials, and the ship’s captain. The event celebrated the strengthening ties between Curaçao and the global cruise industry.
By the Numbers
The 1,200-passenger Vista arrived with 1,168 guests and 767 crew members. The same day, the Rotterdam from Holland America Line also docked in Willemstad at full capacity, carrying 2,664 passengers and 974 crew.
“This dual arrival demonstrates the confidence cruise lines have in Curaçao’s infrastructure and hospitality,” said a CPA spokesperson. The authority reaffirmed its commitment to enhancing port facilities and visitor experiences to maintain the island’s competitive edge.
With its UNESCO-listed capital and vibrant culture, Curaçao continues to attract record cruise traffic, building on its reputation as a must-visit port of call.
