WILLEMSTAD – The Government of Curaçao has taken a significant step toward boosting the island’s cruise industry by officially granting a key land reservation at the Rif area to the Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA). This agreement paves the way for the expansion of the logistics capacity at the cruise terminal, ensuring the island can continue accommodating the growing number of visitors.
The decision comes as Curaçao’s cruise sector experiences steady growth, with a record-breaking 834,530 cruise arrivals in 2024. The latest figures highlight:
17% increase in cruise arrivals compared to 2023
4% more arrivals than initially projected for 2024
3% growth compared to the peak year of 2019
With this expansion, Curaçao is positioning itself as a leading cruise destination in the Caribbean. The additional infrastructure aims to improve logistics, streamline operations, and enhance the overall experience for visitors arriving on the island.
Government officials and CPA representatives have expressed their commitment to further strengthening Curaçao’s position in the global cruise market, ensuring long-term sustainability and economic benefits for the island.
