WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao has installed 14 charging stations for electric vehicles, thanks to a collaboration between travel company TUI and local business Dynaf. These charging points are part of a larger project aimed at setting up a total of 55 charging stations across the ABC Islands.
Curaçao is leading the way with the largest number of charging stations, strategically placed at popular locations such as Jan Thiel Beach, Papagayo Plaza, and the Avila Beach Hotel.
This expansion is a key element of TUI's sustainability strategy, which prioritizes promoting electric transportation on the islands. Since late 2022, TUI has been working with Dynaf to install this infrastructure and accelerate the shift towards sustainable transport.
The funding for these charging stations comes in part from TUI's Fair Travel initiative, launched in March 2021. For each Fair Travel booking, travelers contribute €2, with TUI matching this amount.
This fund supports sustainable projects, including the installation of electric vehicle charging stations on the ABC Islands.
In addition to Curaçao, charging stations are also being installed on Aruba and Bonaire. Aruba currently has two operational stations, and Bonaire opened its first this week at Chogogo Dive & Beach Resort. TUI has announced plans to install more charging stations on both Aruba and Bonaire, with ten planned for each island.
