Curaçao Enters New Phase of Hotel Development to Boost Tourism and Economy

WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao is preparing for a wave of hotel development projects aimed at boosting tourism and stimulating the island’s economy. Minister of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning (VVRP), Charles Cooper, announced during a recent CINEX event that construction of a new hotel in Pietermaai will begin soon.

The project is located across from the former Roxy Theater and is part of a broader strategy to attract more tourism-related investments to the island.

In addition to this initiative, several other projects are in the pipeline. These include a local development project on the grounds of the former Vigilante newspaper office in Pietermaai. Authorities are also working on transforming various plots of land in tourism-designated zones, including Koraal Tabak, although some legal procedures still need to be completed.

“Curaçao is entering a period of unprecedented growth in the hotel sector,” said Minister Cooper, emphasizing the government’s commitment to supporting tourism as a pillar of economic development.

With increased focus on infrastructure and strategic planning, the island aims to position itself as a more competitive and attractive destination for both tourists and investors in the Caribbean.
