WILLEMSTAD - Cruise tourism has started well this year. On New Year's Day, there were four ships on the various piers of Willemstad.

The Freedom of the Seas and the Brittania each had almost 4400 passengers on board. Two smaller ships brought 800 passengers. Every year cruise companies bring about 700,000 tourists to our island.
