Corendon plans to operate an Airbus A350 on Curaçao route

WILLEMSTAD - Corendon has expressed its intention to introduce an Airbus A350 for flights between Schiphol and Curaçao starting in November. The Dutch-Turkish tour operator has not provided further details at this time. It was previously reported that Corendon is seeking increased airlift to accommodate the demand for its hotels on the island.

Up until now, the company has been purchasing capacity from KLM for this purpose. However, KLM's prices for additional seats have become prohibitively high, making it more cost-effective for Corendon to lease its own aircraft.

The origin of the A350 remains unknown, according to aviation news reports. Corendon currently operates Boeing 737s exclusively, which are not suitable for non-stop flights from Schiphol to Curaçao. The Boeing 737 would only be viable if a refueling stop is made along the way, which is not desirable.

Currently, KLM and TUI fly are the only carriers providing flights between Schiphol and Curaçao. It is possible that Corendon will become the third player on this route, and there may even be a fourth if Surinam Airways (SLM) decides to consider a Paramaribo-Willemstad-Schiphol route.
