Corendon considers purchasing its own Boeing 787 following successful Curaçao operation

BADHOEVEDORP - While the first flights of Corendon to Curaçao are scheduled for November, the tour operator/airline is already looking ahead. With an eye on 2025, when the wet lease contract for the Airbus A350 from Spanish airline World2Fly expires, Corendon is considering the possible acquisition of a Boeing 787. Corendon CEO Steven van der Heijden revealed this in a recent conversation with Luchtvaartnieuws.

Currently, Corendon utilizes the Airbus, complete with pilots and a portion of the cabin crew, through a two-year agreement with World2Fly.

The main goal remains the successful launch of our first flights to Curaçao, emphasizes Van der Heijden. But once those operations run smoothly starting in November, we will contemplate the future course.

In terms of independent operations, Corendon seems more inclined to choose Boeing over Airbus. If we start flying on our own, it would be more logical to turn to the Boeing factory, given the similarities between the cockpits, Van der Heijden explains. Corendon currently flies Boeing 737s.

Van der Heijden speculates: It would make sense to consider a model from the 787 series, which is comparable to the A350 in terms of fuel consumption and noise. I doubt we would choose Airbus in that case.
