Corendon asks travelers from Bonaire to book to Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - At the request of Island Governor Edison Rijna, Bonaire is now a "code orange" destination. That means that tourists are no longer welcome. De Dutch newspaper Telegraaf reports today that tour operators have had to rebook hundreds of Dutch tourists.

Corendon boss Steven van der Heijden says in the newspaper that it seems a good idea for Bonaire to go orange for a while. Corendon asks customers to rebook their trip to Curaçao. Most think that's fine.

The hotel sector on Bonaire is furious, according to De Telegraaf, and speaks of panicking and an exaggerated response from the government. “Tourists must be tested negative for corona upon arrival, so that is not the cause. We have not been consulted,” says tourism association Bonhata.
