WILLEMSTAD - On Thursday, October 10th, Dia di Pais Kòrsou (Curaçao's National Day), Punda will be filled with culture, music, and activities for the third edition of the 10/10 Celebration. This year, the event, organized by the Downtown Management Organization (DMO), will be a one-day celebration focused on the richness of Curaçao's diversity. The Curaçaoan community is invited to come together and celebrate the island in the heart of its city center.
The DMO is organizing this event as part of its vision plan, "The World of Punda," aimed at strengthening and revitalizing Punda as a cultural and commercial hub. Through events like the 10/10 Celebration, the DMO seeks to bring the Curaçaoan community into Punda and simultaneously re-establish it as a vibrant destination for everyone—both locals and tourists.
Starting at 10:00 AM, Punda will transform into a festive area with a variety of activities spread across different streets. Hanchi Snoa will become the cultural center of the celebration, featuring a multicultural street event organized in collaboration with the Corps Consulaire Curaçao, which will have representatives from different nations. Attendees can enjoy music, dance, and food from places such as Curaçao, China, India, the U.S., Mexico, the Netherlands, Jamaica, and the Dominican Republic.
Various activities for children and youth will be located on Columbusstraat, Prinsenstraat, Gomezplein, and in front of Wilhelminaplein. Additionally, there will be a market area with stalls selling goods along Columbusstraat and at ‘Pia di Brug.’
Breedestraat will transform into a creative scene with a chalk art show, where artists will create spectacular works on the street, steps, and canvases. There will also be a fashion show during the day, adding to the vibrant atmosphere of the area.
The day will conclude with a spectacular local musical celebration. Artists such as Oriri, Den Chiki, Gentz, EmmaW, Ro1, MC Chris Strick, and ONE will take the stage. Attendees can also enjoy a special outdoor performance by Axl and his Orchestra, along with the carnival group Vise Versa, who will reveal their costumes for Carnival 2025.
The DMO expresses gratitude to the Ministry of OWCS, CTB, Lovers, Aqualectra, Curoil, Afas, CAH, Lapal, and Annabay, along with all other sponsors who made this event possible. They believe in Punda, not only for the October 10 celebration but also in supporting ongoing efforts to make Punda more vibrant and dynamic.
The DMO invites everyone in Curaçao to come together in Punda and celebrate this special day. The event is completely free and offers a unique opportunity to experience the richness of the culture in the historic heart of the city. Whether young or old, the 10/10 Celebration is for anyone who wants to enjoy the diversity of culture on Curaçao's National Day.
