WILLEMSTAD - The Carnival Vista cruise ship has canceled its planned visit to Curaçao in September due to engine problems. The ship requires repairs and will therefore be unable to depart from Port Canaveral on September 7.
The Carnival Vista was scheduled to visit Curaçao on September 9 and Aruba on September 10. The vessel, which can carry up to 5,000 passengers, will not make these stops as planned.
The Carnival Vista previously faced propulsion system issues in 2019, leading to a unique repair operation at sea. "Our engineers are addressing a problem that is limiting the speed of the Carnival Vista," Carnival stated.
"We hoped that recent maintenance would resolve the issue, but unfortunately, we are not quite there yet, and the ship will need to be taken out of service for additional repairs."
The cancellation of the Carnival Vista’s visit is a setback for both tourists and the local economies of Curaçao and Aruba, which benefit significantly from cruise tourism. With a capacity of 5,000 passengers, the Carnival Vista is one of the larger cruise ships to visit the islands. The absence of these visitors represents a missed opportunity for numerous businesses that rely on tourist revenue.
