Business tourism, incentives and meetings have a strong impact in the Americas

The IBTM Americas event opened its doors at the Citibanamex Center, Mexico City, with great expectations to continue promoting the MICE segment

Organized by RX, a global leader in building business and connections for individuals, communities and organizations, the event will bring together 470 exhibitors and 3,200 visitors at the Citibanamex Center in Mexico, with a focus on a sustainable future in the meetings and events industry.

On this occasion, IBTM Americas and Sustainable Events joined forces to present the Change Maker Program, an innovative initiative designed to transform how events are conceived and executed, promoting a beneficial impact on the environment.

Commitment to sustainability
Eleonora García, general manager of IBTM Americas, highlights the essence of the Change Maker Program: “It is not just about showcasing products and services; it is about committing to practices that benefit our communities and the planet as a whole.”

Luiz Bellini, CEO of RX Mexico and organizer of IBTM, underlines the importance of the program in the current global context: "The Change Maker Program represents a unique opportunity for all event stakeholders to play an active role in creating a positive and lasting impact.

The pillars of the Change Maker Program
1. Inclusion: Ensure that event stands and spaces are accessible and welcoming to all people.
2. Carbon footprint reduction: Design, execute stands and activities that minimize environmental impact, from construction to daily operation.
3. Local economy: Promote and support the destination hosting the event, integrating sustainable and collaborative solutions.

Growth and momentum for the MICE segment in the region

Last year, IBTM Americas welcomed 3,045 general visitors, 78 speakers and 520 hosted buyers. “We have far exceeded our objective, with a 23 percent increase in results compared to our 2022 goals. This success is due to the trust of our clients and visitors,” explained García.

In turn, 9,529 business meetings were generated. In this sense, the business potential at IBTM Americas amounted to 10 billion dollars according to the budget declared by the event visitors. That is why mostly positive results are expected from this new edition in 2024.

“We have the ambition to expand our reach, attract more international exhibitors and visitors, and continue promoting the opportunities offered by our country on 21 and 22 August 2024,” concluded Eleonora García.
