11% more stayover arrivals in November 2018

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Tourist Board (CTB) is reporting an overall 11% growth in stayover visitor arrivals for November 2018. Precisely, in total 3,876 more visitors were registered in November 2018, bringing the total count to 37,602 visitors against 33,726 in the same month last year. 

Curaçao welcomed a total of 14,339 stayover visitors from the Netherlands; the main producing country closed November with 7% growth. The Netherlands continues to be the leading country where 38% of our share from stayover arrivals is originating. The inaugural flight out of Frankfurt with Condor that launched November 7th is showing positive growth out of Germany. In total 2,302 German visitors were welcomed which is a 37% growth in November.

From the United States of America an increase of 15% is registered in November 2018. The continuous support of CTB and partners to brand Curaçao in the USA is resulting in demand for the island.  A total of 6,183 US visitors were welcomed in November 2018. Last year we registered 5,389 stayover arrivals from USA.

Curaçao welcomed a total of 7,567 stayover visitors in November from North America, which is a 14% growth. Last year we registered 6,625 visitors from North America.

Both secondary focus countries from South America performed very well recording double digit growth. From Colombia we registered an increase of 69% to a total of 2,513 stayover visitors. The increase in stayover arrivals is the result of additional flights from Avianca and marketing efforts in combination with consistent back to back group movement. Traffic from Brazil recorded growth of 33% in November 2018. In total 1,080 Brazilians were welcomed. The outstanding growth from Brazil is also a direct effect of additional flights of Avianca combine with extra seat capacity with Copa Airlines from Panama.

 

The South America region grew by 24% despite a 15% decrease from Venezuela in November.
