Fuel oil sale falls through: cancellation of bidding marks another chapter in Curaçao's energy drama

At the end of the day, the sale of fuel oil by Phillips 66 through Count Energy, as indicated previously on Thursday, November 30, 2023, did not materialize.

Bank of America, at the last moment, was unable to facilitate the payment. The reason being that today, December 6, 2023, a new bidding process must begin after the previous bidding period ended yesterday, December 5, 2023.

Today, December 6, 2023, the day the second bidding process was supposed to start, it was announced that the bidding for the fuel oil has been canceled without further notice.

As this provider has come for over a year, with trials and persistence demonstrating that this product, in no way, can be sold as long as the product is seized and smuggled. And each time, this fact is reaffirmed. Once again, for so many times, today!

Therefore, Curaçao finds itself with fuel oil in its tanks without being able to use it or benefit from it! Thanks to the endless smuggling adventures that do not serve the interests of the country but solely the personal interests of a group of individuals.

The provider suggests that the government seriously consider its proposition published on November 8, 2023, to contact PDVSA and kindly ask them to come and take their fuel oil so that we can put an end to this "spectacle" and turn the page on this issue.
