Corona and Giro Bank

It is drama on the island, people without food, business owners who have more costs than income and a considerable restriction of freedom of movement that drives us all crazy.

For some of us, however, there is STILL a drama, the bank balances frozen at Giro Bank since December 2019. From day 1, the information about this event is minimal and, above all, unclear. All the so-called broad shoulders hear and know is what they read in the newspaper and that is basically nothing, zero!

It would have been arranged, but the governor just had to sign but she refused because she wanted more information ... that is the last thing that has become public. Then COVID-19 came into play, and immediately all companies and employees became the victims of a lockdown and many who literally have no more income to pay for their business operations.

The government comes up with “wonderful” schemes; money can be borrowed, business owners can make use of the NOW scheme, freelancers can apply for a contribution, those on welfare receive food stamps and some extras are deposited, banks ease on the pay off loans or mortgages etc. There are literally millions stuck at the Giro Bank, money from hard-working business owners, big and small and money from hard-working citizens for times when things are going less well or to be able to provide for their retirement.

So these people (the broad shoulders who have to bear the suffering as they said back then) have the money to survive, to pay for their personnel and other costs without government regulations, but ... that money is stuck in that bank because the Central Bank wants to save its own skin.

Solidarity is what is expected of us but when are people in solidarity with the Giro victims? Give them their money back so they can survive this period too!

Incidentally, there is no politician or journalist who apparently wants to burn his / her hands on this, so from the bottom of our hearts THANK YOU FOR THE SOLIDARITY people!
