WILLEMSTAD - The American education expert Karina Escajeda together with the U.S. Consul General Margy Bond presented on Thursday, January 26, 2023, the curriculum behind the very first English Immersion School, EIS in Curaçao. The unveiling took place in the garden of the U.S. Consulate in Curaçao.

The pilot project will start at the St. Antonius School in August. The initiative comes from the US Consulate. The meeting at the consulate has revealed how immersive English language teaching will improve educational and economic opportunities for children on the island.
With funding from the US Consulate, Escajeda spent two years working virtually with local stakeholders, including the Chamber of Commerce, the Catholic School Board, and the International School of Curaçao, to design a custom English language curriculum for Curaçao.
Escajeda has more than twenty years of experience as a teacher, administrator, teacher educator, and language and literacy specialist in international schools and in public and private schools in the United States. In her current role as an education consultant, she focuses on international education, program evaluation, and curriculum design.
