Postponement for business owners to submit a wage statement to the tax authorities

Main news | By Correspondent March 14, 2023

WILLEMSTAD – Business owners have been given a one-month extension for sending the collective wage statement to the tax authorities. This must normally be submitted before April 1, but the run on crib numbers (tax numbers) is so high that the tax authorities cannot handle the application before that date.

The run arose because from this year business owners are obliged to report a crib number for each employee on the payroll. This is a statement from a company with all employees who receive wages. That's for the first time.

It has therefore been decided to extend the final submission date of the collective wage statement 2022 to Friday 28 April. The tax authorities are currently doing everything they can to process the applications received as quickly as possible.

Among other things, automated crib numbers are created for all residents who do not yet have this number.

According to the tax authorities, many citizens are currently applying for a new crib number while they already have one.

This is easy for taxpayers to check because an existing crib number is stated in all correspondence from the tax authorities.

Out of service

Various employers have indicated that they do not have crib numbers of staff who left employment during 2022. A solution is currently being worked on for this.

Employers are advised to complete the crib numbers for employees who were employed up to and including 31 December 2022.

Finally, the tax authorities urge employers to include the crib number in their payroll records for all employees who enter employment.

The obligation to include a crib number in the collective wage statement will continue to exist. It is also possible for non-residents to apply for a crib number.

For the tax authorities, the nationality or residence status of an employee is not relevant in this context. Everyone is facilitated to pay taxes and premiums due.
