WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao youth baseball players were warmly welcomed and honored on Monday afternoon for their championship victory in the international title competition of the Little League World Series. 

Representing the Caribbean, Curaçao competed in the American city of Williamsport. The world championship slipped through their fingers on Sunday after a defeat against the American team from California. In a thrilling match that even saw a grand slam of 4 runs, our island ultimately lost by a score of 5-6. 

While the world championship may not have been clinched, the team garnered attention in the international arena, especially in their contest against Chinese Taipei. 

The youth baseball players are expected back in Curaçao at two o'clock and will then embark on a triumphant procession, being honored at Brion Square.
