WILLEMSTAD – The process to review the credentials of elected Members of Parliament (MPs) has commenced. A credential is an official document confirming that an elected representative meets all legal requirements to take a seat in the Estates of Curaçao (Staten).
During a session on May 9, Parliament will assess the submitted credentials. "Most candidates set to assume their seats on May 11 have already appeared before the Electoral Council (KSE) to sign the necessary documents," a statement confirmed.
The MFK party, which won the largest share with 13 seats, has registered nearly all of its candidates. PNP and PAR, securing four and two seats respectively, have also completed their registrations. However, MAN-PIN, which holds two seats, had only one candidate present at the KSE.
Within MFK, speculation suggests some MPs may be appointed to ministerial positions, allowing alternates to fill the vacated parliamentary seats.
The new parliamentary term will officially begin on May 11, marking the start of the legislative session.
