Update COVID 19: Dr. Gerstenbluth: “Stay at home!”

WILLEMSTAD - Today during the special conference where the government announced stricter measures in the fight against the coronavirus. Present were epidemiologist Dr. Izzy Gerstenbluth, Minister of Justice Quincy Girigory and Minister of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning, Zita Jesus-Leito.

Dr. Gerstenbluth indicated that Curaçao remains at 11 confirmed infections. 3 are already safe, one has died, 2 are currently in the hospital and the rest are being monitored in isolation. 1588 people are being actively monitored.

“We detect that there are local infections, so everyone has to stay at home. It is precisely in these circumstances that things go fast. Prevention of local contamination is the most important issue at this stage, so stick to the rules. We know it's not fun, but it is necessary for all of us,” said the doctor.

The doctor also reminded the blood donors that their service is still necessary if they are called up they have permission to go to the blood bank.
