Unrest within PAR: Members demand clarity on Zita Jesus-Leito's position

WILLEMSTAD - In a remarkable development within the Partido Alternativa Real (PAR), angry and disappointed members have demanded clarification from the party leadership regarding the treatment of former minister and current Member of Parliament Zita Jesus-Leito. According to party insiders, the trigger for this is the controversial call from party leader Quincy Girigorie for Jesus-Leito to give up her seat, after she earlier decided not to run for re-election in the upcoming 2025 parliamentary elections.

This call and the alleged pressure on Jesus-Leito have caused considerable unrest among PAR members, who believe that someone who has meant a lot to the party is being treated with a lack of respect.

PAR members have insisted on holding a party council meeting and a general assembly to discuss the situation surrounding Jesus-Leito and to obtain the necessary clarity. They express their disappointment with Girigorie's approach and criticize the lack of respect for Jesus-Leito's contributions to the party.

Despite Jesus-Leito recovering from surgery and not yet responding to her party leader's requests, the demand for transparency within the party continues to grow. Members are demanding an explanation, and a meeting on this matter seems inevitable.

While the party leadership says they are working on organizing the requested meeting, the issue remains a hot topic within PAR. All of this unfolds against the backdrop of an announced restructuring and rebranding of the party, where Girigorie aims to introduce new ideas and faces in preparation for the 2025 elections.

The situation surrounding Jesus-Leito and PAR exposes deep divisions within the party and raises questions about leadership, respect, and the party's future direction. With the promise of a meeting before the end of the month, members and observers are holding their breath for what lies ahead in this tumultuous period within the yellow party.
