WILLEMSTAD - The Meteorological Department of Curaçao has issued its latest weather forecast, warning of unsettled conditions through Monday evening as a tropical disturbance approaches the region.
According to the forecast, skies will remain partly cloudy with occasional showers and an isolated thunderstorm, mainly into Monday. Daytime temperatures are expected to reach around 32°C, with overnight lows near 26°C. Sunrise on Monday will be at 6:26 a.m., and sunset at 6:15 p.m.
Winds will blow from the east to northeast at light to moderate speeds, ranging from 7 to 30 km/h (4 to 16 knots), with stronger gusts reaching up to 39 km/h (21 knots) during showers. Sea conditions will remain slight to moderate, with wave heights between 0.5 and 1.5 meters (2 to 5 feet).
Meteorologists report that the change in weather is due to an approaching tropical disturbance that is generating increased moisture and instability across the region. The system is expected to trigger more showers and occasional thunder, especially during the heaviest downpours.
The disturbance, currently designated AL98, is moving westward across the Lesser Antilles in the eastern Caribbean Sea and is projected to develop into a tropical cyclone sometime later next week. At this time, the system does not pose a threat to Curaçao.
Looking ahead to Tuesday, the outlook indicates mostly cloudy conditions with periods of rainfall that may be locally heavy, along with a few isolated thunderstorms.
Residents are advised to stay updated with official weather reports as the tropical system continues to develop in the Caribbean region.
