Trade union SEÚ joins Solidaridat Sindikal against Growth strategy

WILLEMSTAD - Errold Bishop, president of the SEÚ trade union representing some of the Aqualectra staff, says his members have chosen to join Solidaridat Sindikal (Union Solidarity).

These are the trade unions who want to form a front against the government's impending austerity measures. Those measures should take effect on 1 August. According to Bishop, the government imposes too many measures on ordinary employees. Together with the other trade unions, he wants to jointly prepare actions to change the government's mind.

Today Curaçao and the Netherlands must install the so-called progress committee that aims to monitor the agreements and intended goals of the Growth Strategy. The committee must be operational from 1 August in order not to be delayed in the Growth Strategy process.

The committee consists of three members, one of whom is supported by Curaçao, and one member supported by the Netherlands. And furthermore, a president supported by both countries. In addition, a joint secretariat must support the committee. The committee monitors the development of the Growth Strategy.
