Three-day session Jamaloodin ends with an emotional closing word

WILLEMSTAD - Former finance minister George Jamaloodin told the judge at the end of a three-day session that he was not involved in the murder of former Member of Parliament and popular politician Helmin Wiels.

Jamaloodin is suspected of being the one who ordered and paid for the assassination of the popular politician on 5 May 2013 which shocked the entire Kingdom of the Netherlands. He heard Tuesday that the prosecutor demanded a sentence of 30 years in prison.

In his closing speech, an emotional Jamaloodin said that Wiels came home to his family every day as a child and that his mother loved him as his own son. He said that his involvement in Wiels’ death is "unthinkable."

The judge rules on 16 August at half past one in the afternoon.
