The situation of Venezuelan refugees on Curaçao is deteriorating

WILLEMSTAD - The situation of Venezuelan refugees on Curaçao is deteriorating. This is according to the Stichting Vluchteling (Refugee Foundation). The Netherlands must immediately help Curaçao to assist refugees from Venezuela in a dignified manner, says Tineke Ceelen, director of the foundation.

According to the foundation, the crisis in Venezuela, the largest neighbor of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, led to an exodus of people fleeing to neighboring countries in Latin America.

Another part tries through the sea, and then the Netherlands comes into the picture. The islands Aruba, Bonaire and Curaçao are close to the mainland of Venezuela. Curaçao is struggling to cope with this group of refugees, according to Ceelen.
