WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) is proud to share the special news that the first pacemaker implantation has been successfully performed in the new Cath lab of the CMC. CMC is proud of this achievement carried out by its specialists in the new Cath lab, a new hospital department that has specialists and advanced equipment dedicated to medical treatments for heart disease. A Pacemaker is a device that regulates the rhythm of the heartbeat when its frequency is not optimal due to a heart rhythm disorder. In the CMC 32 successful pacemaker implants already performed. The difference between the previous implantations and this implantation is that it is the first time that the implantation was performed within the Cath lab. A pacemaker implantation is a surgical procedure that takes about an hour and a half. After this, the patient can spend the night in the hospital for the necessary medical control and attention. The next day, the patient can go home when everything is in order.
