The College of Financial Supervision regards Curaçao's balanced budget as realistic, but still sees risks

WILLEMSTAD - The Rhuggenaath cabinet has managed to get the 2019 budget balanced. Based on the results for the first six months, the Financial Supervision Council based on a realistic prognosis, which is based on a contraction of the economy of 2.5%.

"The Cft realizes that meaningful steps have been taken recently by Curacao on the benefit side to generate extra income in 2019 and endorses the estimates of Curacao," writes Cft chairman Raymond Gradus to finance minister Kenneth Gijsbertha. The Cft still sees a few risks and therefore wants a more detailed explanation of a number of specific components.

One of the risks mentioned by the Cft in the letter is the fire in the office of the State recipient, which can have negative consequences for the realization of the projected taxes.
