WILLEMSTAD - Last Saturday the RCC detected a suspicious vessel on the radar that sailed from the south towards Daaibooi. The coast guard aircraft has been directed to the contact by the RCC to investigate. Upon arrival at the location, the crew of the aircraft saw that packages were transferred from the boat into a land vehicle. After this the vehicle left at high speed towards the public road and the boat sailed away.

The RCC immediately informed the police and the customs authorities to search in the Daaibooi area. The authorities have raided a home in the neighbourhood on the indication of the aircraft. An adjacent site has been systematically searched, using the specially trained Defense search team in the Caribbean. The coastguard helicopter has been deployed several times above the area to assist from the air in the search conducted by the chain partners.

This is an example of good cooperation between the Coast Guard, the local authorities and the Ministry of Defense in which various packages of drugs and a weapon have been intercepted.
