WILLEMSTAD - As is widely known, SOAB serves as the government’s accountant and is the institution responsible for auditing and advising the government and public entities. One of SOAB’s core tasks, within the framework of government advisory services, is to conduct research aimed at improving and/or adjusting procedures and processes to safeguard public funds.
Recently, SOAB’s name has been mentioned in connection with an investigation it conducted in the past at the request of the Ministry of Finance, the reports of which have been publicly available since 2024. SOAB emphasized that it carries out its duties in accordance with professional and ethical standards for accountants, and that confidential information or personal data are never included in its reports.
The work performed by SOAB, as well as the manner in which it accounts for its activities and received funds, is documented annually in its official report, which is submitted each year to the Minister responsible for the Finance portfolio.
SOAB reaffirmed its commitment to performing its duties neutrally and correctly, in the interest of protecting government finances, and stated that it fully distances itself from political discussions.
