Six police officers on mandatory leave of absence

WILLEMSTAD - Six officers have been denied access to the workplace. That happened in connection with an ongoing investigation by the Internal Affairs department of the police.

The Internal Affairs Department has been investigating possible misconduct by police officers for several weeks. The officers, five men and a woman, are suspected of theft, among other things.

They also would not have complied with the legal regulations regarding the commodities law, confiscation of belongings and the right to privacy.

The investigation is both criminal and disciplinary. The agents will remain on mandatory leave for as long as the investigation continues.

The police force's management team regrets the case, but on the other hand wants to send a clear signal that police misconduct is not tolerated and that the force is able to take the steps to ensure a police force with integrity.
