WILLEMSTAD - The lawyer of former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte indicated last night that he will seek his client’s international right.
Yesterday the judge ruled that the appeal filed by Schotte is unfounded. He appealed against the termination of his membership in parliament. This was terminated because he was irrevocably convicted by the Supreme Court in the Netherlands, but according to Schotte's lawyer, the law on this had never been ratified by means of a National Decree.
Schotte's lawyer says that the Court a clarification to the amendment of the Statute to decide against the politician. The lawyer calls the reasoning of the judge in this case 'vagarious' and states that Schotte now has nothing else to do but to appeal to the international legal proceedings.
