Schotte was in court last week

WILLEMSTAD - Former Prime Minister Gerrit Schotte was in court again last Friday accompanied by his lawer Lizaima da Costa Gomez. The former leader of the MFK had filed a civil lawsuit against the Intelligence Agency for the leaking of important information to the Dutch media.

This lawsuit was specifically against Yasser Denaoui, Edsel Gumbs and the government of Curaçao. This case has been ongoing since 2014 before Schotte’s conviction was definitive.

Schotte argues that it was Gumbs and Dennaoui who had personal connections to the public prosecution. These two men, according to the former Prime Minister, are guilty of leaking sensitive information to the Dutch media. Gumbs was director of the agency while Dennaoui was employed as a special agent.

These two men worked on an intel report on former Minister of Finance George Jamaloodin and Gerrit Schotte after MFK formed the first government of Curaçao in 2010. Conflict of interest between Gumbs on one side and both Schotte and Jamaloodin on the other side led to the dismissal of the former head of the intelligence agency.

The Dutch newspaper De Telegraaf published these memos on Schotte but also his life partner Cicely van der Dijs. These memos came from the intelligence agency.
