Sandals resorts and Curaçao captivate the airwaves across U.S. and Canada

WILLEMSTAD - Sandals Royal Curacao (SCR) hosted some 79 top radio stations, reaching a total of 93 key markets across United States of America (USA) and Canada. The event, dubbed a radio remote, was held from August 21 to September 1, targeting over 15 million listeners who tuned in to their favorite disc jockeys (DJs) as they promoted brand Curacao and Sandals Resorts.

Trading in their studios for stunning views of the Spanish Water Bay and the Caribbean Sea, radio DJs captivated loyal listeners highlighting the island’s pulsating culture and Sandals Royal Curacao’s amazing amenities, exceptional service and committed team members.

Spearheaded by Sandals Resorts with sponsorship from the Curacao Tourist Board (CTB) the remote offered the opportunity to Sandals Royal Curacao team members and leaders to speak about what makes the island and resort the perfect destination. CTB executive Jacqueline Sybrandy-Held also spoke to the culturally diverse Dutch island and the work of the CTB during one-on-one interviews with each radio host.

Not only were listeners regaled with energetic interviews, many also got the chance to see engaging content as DJs showcased the fun activities and relaxing moments of their trip across their social media pages.

“This is my first ever visit to Sandals Resort and my first time to Curacao, oh my God! It’s just amazing. I will start with the staff; I have never seen such a great group of people. Everybody is smiling, everybody is so helpful and the food is unbelievable. The scenery, you just can’t beat that, it is just a fun spot. I gotta come back,” shared DJ Beau, morning show host on Bounce 99.9 out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada.

Dave Alexander and Kristi Lee, from Mix 107.7 Dayton Ohio had similar views. “The resort is fantastic. The ride in was amazing and that cold towel greeting after a long travel day was just what I needed. The rooms are fantastic, the food is good, it is just an amazing experience.”

Morning show co-host on Bounce 105.3 and long-time radio remote participant out of Fredericton, Canada, Fred McCausland shared “I’ve been fortunate enough to be around the Caribbean to many Sandals Resorts and SCR is up there with all the rest. The people really stand out. Being the newer resort, you wouldn’t even know it. They have every ‘I’ dotted and ever ‘T’ crossed as far as the service and the smiles. You are pampered and taken care of.

The beauty of this resort is just unbelievable. The pool is really hard to describe, it is my favourite thing, all I can say is come and experience it for yourself, it is amazing!”

Through the CTB, the radio DJs were taken on an adventure-packed day walking through Willemstad.  They also enjoyed a tour of the Sandals Foundation supported Rif Mangrove Park and an exciting session showing innovative ways of creating unique items out of recycled plastic by Limpi Recycling where DJs got to make and take home their own souvenirs.

According to Kevin Clarke, general manager for Sandals Royal Curacao “we were excited to host this amazing marketing eventIt was a fantastic opportunity to sell our resort and the island to our largest visitor location which is North America. What’s amazing about this experience is that our DJs were thoroughly engaged on resort and in the communities and what better way for them to speak organically about the island and resort than to experience it first-hand. Curacao is the prime location for visitors, especially with the winter season drawing close and this is a fantastic opportunity to invite vacationers to come to our newest resort destination,” Clarke said.

In addition to listening and viewing the luxury-included amenities at Sandals Resorts and all that Curacao has to offer to eager tourists, those tuned in had exclusive chances to win their very own 4 day/3 night stay to any Sandals Resort in Curacao, The Bahamas or Jamaica with roundtrip airfare from official airline sponsor, American Airlines.

Other key sponsors helping to ensure a successful staging of the radio remote were Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI) and Air Canada Vacations.
