Rhuggenaath: Refinery still important as a foreign exchange and job generator

WILLEMSTAD - According to Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath, the refinery is still one of the largest foreign exchange generators and therefore still of great importance for the Curacao economy.

It is not only a foreign exchange generator but also a job generator. Rhuggenaath said this during his weekly meeting with the press.

The Prime Minister indicated that the refinery is still of great importance for Curacao, but it remains unclear on which impact studies he relies for this answer.

According to the prime minister, studies have been done into the economic importance of the refinery, but he did not have the figures to hand. Also inquiring with his personal assistant does not lead to getting hold of an economic impact study on the refinery.
