WILLEMSTAD - Contrary to what Undersecretary Ramond Knops claimed yesterday, according to Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath, some room was offered at the last minute for adjustments to the proposal of the consensus kingdom law Caribbean Reformation Entity (CHE). Yesterday Knops hinted that the CHE cannot be negotiated.
Rhuggenaath sayd to look back with satisfaction at the lightning visit of the Dutch Undersecretary. “Until the last moment, there was no opening to negotiate the content. But after yesterday, Knops has said that he is open to our proposals in order to try to reach an agreement. Hopefully the law will now become something we can live with,” the prime minister indicated.
Coalition partner MAN no longer wants to adopt any consensus kingdom law. Rhuggenaath has consulted with Minister Steven Martina and he understands, according to the Prime Minister, that there is a crisis and that the government needs income to continue.
"He won't be ready to sign yet, but I'm not ready either," he added.
