Aim is to accelerate the search for a strategic partner for the refinery
WILLEMSTAD - In a press release, Curaçao Refinery (RdK) announced that they will accelerate the search for a strategic partner to operate and manage the oil facilities on the island. RdK will initiate the headhunt process to realize this objective. “A committee that consists of two representatives appointed by the government of Curaçao and two representatives appointed by the RdK will be in charge of this important process which is so necessary now,” says RdK in its press release.
RdK also informed Curaçao Oil Refinery Complex bv (CORC) that they are no longer being considered a potential operator of the refinery. Thus, the agreement with CORC is off the table, says RdK.
RdK once again emphasized that the operation of the refinery in Emmastad and the oil terminal at Bullen Bay is highly necessary. The determination to find parties that are serious, capable and that have the knowledge and the resources to undertake this endeavor is high, says RdK.
“Based on all the work that has been done already, there is a clear view of parties that could comply with these requirements. Contrary to the previous process, now RdK will focus on parties that have the potential to take over the refinery.”
The committee will be installed in the coming days and will begin working under the mandate of the government of Curaçao.
