Questioning the quality of service of the "Admissions Organization"

Member of Parliament Zita Jesus-Leito raised concerns about holding ministers accountable for departments under their ministries.

WILLEMSTAD - In the central committee meeting on November 8th, the issue of the Admissions Organization's service was discussed.

Member of Parliament Zita Jesus-Leito from the PAR faction raised a question about how much money is allocated to the education of our people regarding the service that provides information and the application of the law. Since this remains a concern under the Ministry of Economic Development led by Minister Ruisandro Cijntje, it is noteworthy. It cannot be the case that a minister works to attract people to Curaçao and lacks control over the treatment of individuals who arrive at the Admissions Organization.

Zita Jesus-Leito points out that the Minister of Justice needs to address the quality of service provided by the Admissions Organization. In this regard, Zita Jesus-Leito mentioned that even airline companies complain about the treatment of foreigners coming to Curaçao. In this context, Zita Jesus-Leito indicated that money is being invested, but particularly individuals coming from Latin America are not being treated as they should be.

Member of Parliament Ramon Yung from the MFK faction questioned whether Member of Parliament Zita Jesus-Leito is aware of the laws and regulations that need to be followed when entering Curaçao. In response, Zita Jesus-Leito stated that everyone should listen to each other, as she inquired about the amount of money allocated to amendments for the application of immigration laws and regulations.

Zita Jesus-Leito mentioned that while there are laws and regulations, it is essential to know how they are applied. She emphasized that Curaçao is a small country, not the center of the world, and everyone must learn to treat others well. Zita Jesus-Leito continued and addressed MP Ramon Yung from the MFK faction, stating that if someone says they are being treated poorly, that's how they feel, and the person being treated well should be thankful.

Zita Jesus-Leito further expressed that it is not only tourists who complain but even airlines speak about this issue. In this context, Zita Jesus-Leito mentioned hearing on the radio a minister criticizing that he could not speak with his colleague because the colleague did not want to talk with him about the issues within the departments under his ministry, such as the application of rules and orders against people coming to the country. Zita Jesus-Leito stated that her colleague often brings up the concept of dualism, and in this regard, the minister should be held accountable.
