Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies visits Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - On September 21st, Princess Camilla of Bourbon arrived on the island with a noble purpose of presenting her foundation to people of Curaçao.  The Princess, who is Italian born with an international background, has been to the island twice before and has a special appreciation for Curaçao not only because of its beauty but also because of its population.

Princess Camilla of Bourbon Charitable Foundation is an organization concerned with all phenomena caused by climate change and aimed to funding projects that protect the natural environment.

The foundation was established in Mauritius because of the strategical geographical position and has as goals, among others, to make the youth aware of the importance of climate change and that their contribution to improvement of the environment is essential.

Reforestation, saving sea life, improving air quality are the main concerns of the foundation which has until now funded projects as Voluntary Marine Conservation Area (VMCA) in Mauritius, with the goal of protecting some areas and guarantee that the marine biodiversity is respected and not permitting invasive or destructive activities.

The foundation has also supported with donation all kind of projects aimed at fighting of plastic pollution, developing protected sea areas, conservation of endangered species and promoting innovative solutions for a sustainable earth.

Yesterday morning H.R.H. Princess Camilla of Bourbon Two Sicilies paid a courtesy visit to Her Excellency the Governor of Curaçao Mrs. Lucille George-Wout to explain her concerns for the world environment and present the purpose of her foundation to contribute with the conservation of Curaçao’s nature. Curaçao suffers from pollution caused by humans. But also erosion of its beaches, mostly caused by natural phenomena, but it has to be considered.

Princess Camilla has paid tribute to Governor George-Wout with a picture representing her family.

In the afternoon the Princess held at Hotel Baoase a press conference to make public the plans of the foundation to involve the local population in this fight against climate change. The Princess made an appeal to everyone, especially young people to actively participate in the conservation of the living environment and reduce contamination as much as possible.

H.R.H. Princess Camilla has concluded that Curaçao can always count on the support of her foundation for any project that helps improving of the environment and so the quality of life of the inhabitants of the island.
