WILLEMSTAD - The royal family visited Cas Abao beach this afternoon. There they attended a presentation by Sea Turtle Conservation Curaçao and Dutch Caribbean Nature Alliance (DCNA) about marine protected areas and the conservation of sea turtles. The princess was then allowed to release a recued sea turtle into the sea.
During the presentation by the nature conservation organizations, the royal family received an explanation about, among other things, tumors in sea turtles and the nesting cycle of the sea turtle. This was followed by a demonstration by volunteers on the beach. They showed, among other things, how they rescued a sea turtle from a fishing net in collaboration with the Coast Guard and divers.
