WILLEMSTAD - The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS) has been receiving negative reports in the media for some time. The CBCS has been aware of this right from the start opted not to respond in the media pending the outcome of ongoing investigations.
However, the constant inaccurate and harmful media reports force the CBCS to respond now in the interest of the reliability and integrity of the Central Bank as an institution.
The CBCS cannot identify in any way in these reports or in the recent allegations made as if it would have been threatened with draconian conditions or otherwise on behalf of the CBCS an attempt was being made to blackmail any person or institution.
The words expressed in a voice note, which is currently circulating on social media, has never been used by any representative of the Bank.
The CBCS therefore explicitly distances itself from all these unilateral and incorrect reports.
