WILLEMSTAD - The Giro Bank will again auction the Plaza Hotel in Punda Willemstad. Two previous attempts to sell the property were unsuccessful. The potential buyers were unable to meet their payment obligations.

The auction will start with a bidding price. If it is too high, it will drop until someone agrees.

At the auction in 2017, the Giro Bank forgot to request a bank guarantee. American buyer John Burcham did not pay. Whether the 12 percent fine and the costs of the auction were ever recovered from Burcham is unknown.

In 2018, 13.5 million guilders were offered by Bolera, but that money was never paid either. The auction costs were then covered because a deposit had been paid.

The auction will take place on September 17 at notary Naalddijk. Auction conditions are available there 8 days prior. A written offer can be made for a private sale up to fourteen days before the auction.
