WILLEMSTAD - Kòrsou di Nos Tur (KdNT) stands firm and will file a complaint with the Common Court of Justice today, to try to force the Public Prosecution Service (OM) to continue criminal prosecution of former minister of economic development Dr. Steven Martina. In the same complaint, the Court is requested to also force the OM to prosecute Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath.
During a press conference, KdNT members Carlos Monk, Amparo dos Santos and Meindert 'Mènki' Rojer pointed out that the OM itself indicated in the letter about the conditional termination of the prosecution that Martina is guilty of violating the Integrity (Candidate) Ministers Act.
“Martina cannot go free. He is guilty, that is also confirmed by the Public Prosecution Service,” says Monk, who read several passages from the letter.
Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath - who acted as a ‘formateur’ during the formation process of his cabinet - is, according to KdNT, just as guilty as Martina. A complaint will therefore also be filed against him today.
Monk says that Rhuggenaath knowingly nominated Martina as a ministerial candidate. That is punishable by law and he is therefore facing a prison sentence of three to four years.
The members of KdNT are also unhappy about the MAN - which will again nominate Martina as Minister of Economic Development.
